Wenonah Elementary welcomed back former student and author Zaneta Freeman for a meaningful visit with our students!
She read her book Love is Like a Butterfly, written as a legacy for her son, who illustrated it while in third grade and shared her love for Wenonah, where her journey began. 🦋
Students also created their own pages about what makes them feel loved, bringing their ideas together into a class book to take back and treasure. 💙

The City of Waynesboro is continuing work on the Comprehensive Plan update and is seeking community input as they begin shaping future priorities and actions.

Welcome to Waynesboro Public Schools!
We’re excited to introduce Yvonne Jarvis, our newest Division Head Nurse!
Yvonne is a Registered Nurse with 29 years of experience and holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Leadership and Management. Her background includes work in skilled nursing, neuro trauma, obstetrics, newborn care, juvenile corrections, outpatient dialysis, and ambulatory clinics. She has also spent more than 25 years in leadership roles supporting both patients and healthcare teams.
Originally from Rockbridge County, Yvonne and her husband, Tony, have called the Waynesboro area home for the past 6½ years.
We’re thrilled to have her as part of our team and know she will make a positive impact on our students and staff! 💙
Returning student registration is now open for all current Waynesboro Public Schools students (Wayne Hills Preschool through Grade 12).
New student and Kindergarten registration will open on April 28.

We look forward to another great school year! ✏️

As previously announced, Monday, April 20, 2026, will now be a regular school day, and our Staff Workday will be moved to Tuesday, April 21, 2026. This change is necessary due to the special election being held across the Commonwealth of Virginia, as several of our school locations serve as polling places.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we adjust our schedule to accommodate voters.

Date 👉 : March 10th
Time ⏰: 12pm-1pm
Location📍: Verona government center
The purpose of the class is to be available to provide basic information on how to apply for the waivers, what each of them means, and what to expect from the different service models.

Our schools don’t run without strong leadership—and we are incredibly grateful for our principals, assistant principals and directors who show up every day for students, staff, and families.
From problem-solving and relationship-building to supporting learning and school culture, their work often happens behind the scenes—but the impact is felt everywhere.
💬 Join us in the comments and help us say THANK YOU!
