Good afternoon Westwood Families!
I hope everyone has been safe and warm during this winter storm. When we return, it will be February. Please see below for reminders and upcoming events in the month of February.
Upcoming Events:
Monday, February 2nd is the 100th day of school! To help make the day extra fun, students are invited to dress to represent the 100th day of school in any way they choose. This might include wearing something with 100 items, dressing like they are 100 years old, or getting creative in another way that represents the number 100. There is no right or wrong way—simple ideas are perfectly fine! Please remember that participation is optional, and students should still wear clothing that is comfortable and school-appropriate. We are looking forward to a fun and memorable day of learning and celebration! In the event that we are not able to be in school on Monday February 2nd, the 100th day of school will be the day we return to school.

We encourage all of our families to download the Waynesboro Public Schools app to help keep up with school and division events. The app is a great way to communicate with your child’s teachers and our office staff.
Reminder:
For the safety of our students,
Car riders should be dropped off in our back parking lot. When dropping off students or picking up students, please do not pass other cars and be sure to follow directions of our staff.
We also ask that parents do not drop students off in our front parking lot during our arrival times. That lot is reserved from 7:30 - 7:50 and from 2:30 - 3:00.
If your child arrives after 7:50 in the morning, you must walk them into the office to sign them in.
Chaperones:
As we are planning field trips, I want to remind parents that you must complete the online volunteer application if you intend to chaperone. This application can be found at the following link: https://www.waynesboro.k12.va.us/o/wps/page/volunteering-at-wps
This process takes up to two weeks to complete.
Additionally, for the safety of our students, parents and other family members cannot show up at a field trip and join the group without being approved to chaperone.
If you have any questions, please contact our office.
Safety Drills:
As we go through the school year, we will be conducting various safety drills, including lockdown drills, fire drills, tornado drills, and earthquake drills. These drills are required and used to teach students how we would respond in the event of an emergency.
At some point during the month of February, we will conduct a fire drill and a lockdown drill.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 540-946-4670.
Thank you!
