Congratulations to our Westwood VAE Grant winners! Our Kindergarten team, Mrs. Gnann-Williams, Miss Guy, Ms. Paul and Ms. Prestiy were recognized at the annual VAE reception last night after receiving grants to purchase culturally responsive books for their classrooms. "As a kindergarten team, we want to provide our students with literature that they can relate to. We want to offer opportunities to make connections to the characters and their cultures within a story. Our students should have the chance to see themselves in the stories we read. It is through reading multicultural books that students are presented with the chances to learn about other cultures and heritages."
