As part of our Back-to-School Bash, WPS employees teamed up with Embrace to help families pick up clothing, receive vaccines and other essentials for a great start to the school year. Thank you to our incredible staff and partners for going above and beyond to support our students and families!

🛌 Wellness Wednesday: Start Practicing Now! 💤 Let’s talk sleep! We all know getting back into a school routine can be tough (especially for our little night owls 🦉). But good sleep = better learning, behavior, and overall health! Here’s what experts recommend: Ages 3–5: 10–13 hours Ages 6–12: 9–12 hours Teens (13–18): 8–10 hours 😅 Kids may not love it, but now’s the time to start adjusting those sleep schedules, before the first day sneaks up! 📊 Thank you to Wenonah Elementary for sharing these helpful graphics during their recent Community Coffee Chat!

ATTN Rising 7th graders regarding vaccinations: Documentation of receiving TDAP, Meningitis and HPV is required before attending the first day of school. Medical or Religious exemptions are required if these are not obtained. NOTE: HPV is listed as required with Virginia Department of Health; parents may opt out by choice. TDAP and Meningitis must be obtained or exempted with no exception. Vaccination Opportunities: You can join us on July 20th for a vaccination clinic hosted by the Virginia Department of Health during the Back to School Bash (vaccinations will occur off site at Embrace Community Center – TRANSPORTATION FROM KCMS TO EMBRACE WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING THIS TIME! Adventure. Leadership. Connection. A group of rising 6th graders recently kicked off our brand-new Wild Week in the Wilderness program! Selected from a competitive pool of applicants, these students stood out for their kindness, curiosity, and commitment to creating a positive environment. Joined by two outstanding junior counselors from Waynesboro High School, the group explored local gems like Sherando Lake, Panther Falls, and the Moorman’s River—learning, laughing, and building lasting memories along the way.

At their May meeting, the Waynesboro School Board recognized Ms. Brianna Squizzero, Junior Beta Club sponsor and Ms. Ellen Trost, Junior Beta Club co-sponsor, as well as the students that participated in the Junior Beta Club Convention at the Hampton Convention Center in February 2025. Individual Recognitions include: Preston Stacy, 8th grader - placed 1st in 3D Designs Colin Corcoran, 7th grader - placed 2nd in Poetry Musicology Team, placed 1st and those participants included: Colin Corcoran, 7th grade Zachary Sandercock, 7th grade Logan Weisgram, 8th grade Darian Jones, 8th grade

At their May meeting, the Waynesboro School Board recognized the students whose art work was chosen to represent the Waynesboro School Board at the VSBA Valley Regional Spring Art Contest. The following participants were chosen by their art teacher to represent our elementary, middle and high schools in Page County on May 1, 2025. Kyla Mainer - 5th grade, William Perry Elementary School, Margaret Morris - Art Teacher (pictured) Mason Koenig - 7th grade, Kate Collins Middle School, Brooke Pangle - Art Teacher Morgan Sites - 11th grade, Waynesboro High School, Dawn Nay - Art Teacher (pictured) 2nd Place Award recognition was awarded to Kyla Mainer for her elementary artwork at the VSBA Valley Regional Spring Art Contest.
