September is Attendance Awareness Month Too often, we think of reducing absences as the job of parents or school clerks in the front office. But communities across the country have started helping schools address chronic absence by building public awareness and leveraging resources. http://bit.ly/1oqfID7

KCMS Families: This year, KCMS has adopted the Early Identification System (EIS) Teacher Checklist and Student Survey to promote students’ social and emotional health. The EIS guides prevention efforts in our school. In addition, our school will be participating in a research project called “Evidence-Informed Mental health Prevention, Assessment, Collaboration, and Treatment in Middle Schools” (E-IMPACTS). E-IMPACTS will evaluate how early identification systems may support student social, emotional, and academic performance in schools. See the images for more information.
