Today was a busy day! We tried Turkey Tacos for #TryItTuesday. We also tried some new foods on Day 1 of our Waynesboro Educational Farm trips! We used our senses to do squash studies, harvested tomatoes, got dirty in the compost and more! Today was RED day and tomorrow is BLUE day! See you all tomorrow for another amazing day. 💙💙

As we approach the Labor Day weekend, we want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your family. Please note that all schools will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of the holiday. We also want to inform you that the Virginia Department of Health has provided our school division with COVID-19 rapid antigen tests at no cost. Next week, each student and staff member will receive a box containing two tests to take home. If you or your child experiences any symptoms of COVID-19 we strongly encourage you to use these tests. Symptoms of COVID-19 include: • Fever or chills • Cough • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing • Sore throat • Congestion or runny nose • Fatigue • Muscle or body aches • Headache • Nausea or vomiting • Diarrhea Please remember to report any positive test results to your child's school nurse. Students learned about SENSES this week and about LISTENING. We listen with our whole bodies: eyes watching, ears listening, voice quiet and body calm. Ask students if they can sing you the "Listening Song" they learned! 👀👂👄

‼️❤️🌈COLOR DAYS begin next week! Next Tuesday, September 3rd, we will begin the month by all wearing RED if you're able! This is a fun way to learn, practice and discuss our colors together. All students will be included to participate.🌈❤️‼️

Our guest speaker, Dave Burgess, brought the energy and inspiration we needed to kick off the year. Dave Burgess is a New York Times Best-Selling author of "Teach Like A PIRATE: Increase Student Engagement, Boost Your Creativity, and Transform Your Life as an Educator" and co-author of "P is for PIRATE: Inspirational ABC's for Educators." He is renowned for his creative, entertaining, and outrageously energetic style. Dave empowered our teachers to embrace the mighty purpose of being an educator and sparked them to design classes that are life-changing experiences for students.
