Coach Eli Crawford

Waynesboro, VA.- June 22, 2026 (For Immediate Release)

At a called meeting of the Waynesboro School Board on Monday, June 22, 2026, Eli Crawford was appointed as the newHead Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Waynesboro High School.

Coach Eli brings more than a decade of basketball coaching experience and a proven commitment to student-athlete development. Most recently, he served as Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Eastern Mennonite High School, where he led the program from 2022 to 2026. In that role, he focused on player development, team leadership, academic accountability, and helping student-athletes build the life skills necessary for success on and off the court.

Throughout his coaching career, Crawford has worked with athletes at multiple levels, serving as an assistant coach at Wilson Memorial High School, Staunton High School, and Eastern Mennonite High School before becoming a head coach. His experience includes player evaluation, skill development, practice planning, community engagement, and fostering positive relationships with families and school stakeholders.

"His passion for developing young people, extensive basketball knowledge, and commitment to building strong relationships with students and families make him an excellent fit for our community. In addition to his basketball coaching experience, Crawford currently serves as a football and track coach at Rocktown High School and has spent much of his professional career working with students in educational settings. His background reflects a dedication to mentoring young people and helping them reach their full potential both academically and athletically.

"I look forward to building relationships with our student-athletes, families, and community while developing a basketball program that emphasizes hard work, accountability, character, and excellence. Together, we will work to create a culture that makes Waynesboro proud."

Coach Eli will begin his duties immediately as he prepares for the upcoming basketball season.
