Waynesboro City School Board Announces
Superintendent Search
(August 3, 2026)—The Waynesboro City School Board announced on Thursday, July 30, that it will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent by seeking public input on qualifications.
The school board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2026WaynesboroCitySearch and on the home page of the division web site. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the school board administration offices and at each school. The deadline for surveys to be completed by is August 21, 2026.
In addition to the survey, the board will hold a public hearing to receive comments from the community:

"Finding the right superintendent to lead our school division is an important responsibility, and we want to ensure that the voices are reflected throughout the process,” stated Amber Lipscomb, the Chair of the School Board. "We encourage parents, staff, students, and community members to share their thoughts and priorities by completing the survey and attending the upcoming public hearing. Your input will help inform the qualities and leadership experience we seek in our next superintendent."
The school board selected the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to assist the board with the superintendent search.
