Learning Beyond the Classroom!
Select 5th graders from all four of our elementary schools participated in the Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School Outreach Program - and what a day of discovery it was!

Students rotated through three engaging sessions:
📐 Physics – measuring slope
📊 Math – exploring proportional triangles
✍️ Humanities/Language Arts – creative risk-taking through poetry
Experiences like this spark curiosity, challenge thinking, and inspire our students to see new possibilities in learning.

We’re proud of our young scholars for embracing the challenge! 💙

Students in Ms. Khaswan’s Africana Studies class recently visited the Rosenwald School and Museum, right here in Waynesboro — a powerful learning experience connecting classroom study to local history.

Built in 1924 during segregation, Rosenwald School served Black students in the Waynesboro community and stood as a center of education and community life until school integration. Today, the site continues that legacy as a community center and museum preserving the stories, resilience, and contributions of generations of students and families.

Rosenwald schools were part of a national effort to expand educational opportunities for Black children across the South at a time when resources were deeply unequal, and they played a major role in shaping communities and advancing access to education.

Experiences like this help students see history not just in textbooks, but in the places and stories that shaped our own community. 💜
