Welcome to Waynesboro Public Schools!
We’re excited to introduce Yvonne Jarvis, our newest Division Head Nurse!
Yvonne is a Registered Nurse with 29 years of experience and holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Leadership and Management. Her background includes work in skilled nursing, neuro trauma, obstetrics, newborn care, juvenile corrections, outpatient dialysis, and ambulatory clinics. She has also spent more than 25 years in leadership roles supporting both patients and healthcare teams.
Originally from Rockbridge County, Yvonne and her husband, Tony, have called the Waynesboro area home for the past 6½ years.
We’re thrilled to have her as part of our team and know she will make a positive impact on our students and staff! 💙
Returning student registration is now open for all current Waynesboro Public Schools students (Wayne Hills Preschool through Grade 12).
New student and Kindergarten registration will open on April 28.

The Waynesboro School Board proudly recognized our outstanding Junior Beta Club and Senior Beta Club members for their achievements at the recent Beta Club Convention held in Hampton! 🌟
These students represented Waynesboro with excellence, showcasing their talents, leadership, and commitment to academic success.
Congratulations to our Beta Club members and sponsors on this well-deserved recognition! 🎉

Waynesboro Public Schools staff showed their support by wearing purple in honor of the Month of the Military Child—a time to recognize the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of military-connected students and their families.
We are proud to stand with our military families and celebrate the important role they play in our school community. 💜
Thank you to the Virginia Department of Education for helping bring awareness to this meaningful initiative across the Commonwealth.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to engage with future educators and professionals—and we appreciate Virginia Union for welcoming us to campus.

Alongside peers from Staunton and Augusta County, students are serving on house committees, presenting their own bills, and experiencing the legislative process firsthand.
A powerful opportunity to build leadership, critical thinking, and civic engagement. 👏

Here, it’s more than a job, it’s an opportunity to make an impact, build relationships, and be part of a community that cares.
We’re hiring passionate individuals across a variety of roles. Whether you’re in the classroom, supporting students, or helping our schools run each day, there’s a place for you here.

It takes a village, and we’re grateful for ours! 🌟
Thank you to Augusta Health for supporting the LU Exergame System—truly a game-changer for our students.
Westwood second graders participated in an 8-week learn-to-swim program at the Waynesboro Family YMCA . While some students built life-saving skills in the pool, others stayed active in the gym using the LU system. 🏊♂️✨
This partnership is about more than swimming—it’s about building confidence, safety, and lifelong healthy habits.

As previously announced, Monday, April 20, 2026, will now be a regular school day, and our Staff Workday will be moved to Tuesday, April 21, 2026. This change is necessary due to the special election being held across the Commonwealth of Virginia, as several of our school locations serve as polling places.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we adjust our schedule to accommodate voters.

Every school day matters—supporting learning, connection, and growth for our students.
We hope you enjoy a safe and restful spring break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on April 7!

Students brought history to life through an engaging, interdisciplinary experience—researching historical figures, writing speeches, and stepping into character as “living statues.”
From powerful voices of the past to influential changemakers, our students didn’t just learn history… they became it. 👏
Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community partners who made this event so special. From performances to food to cultural displays this was a true celebration!

School Board Recognitions

We are proud to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of these individuals. Moments like these highlight the many ways our students and staff continue to make Waynesboro Public Schools a place of excellence and pride.
Please join us in congratulating those recognized at the meeting!

Last month, Westwood Hills Elementary hosted its first Donuts and Cocoa with Caregivers event during morning meeting, giving families the opportunity to visit their child’s classroom and see their learning environment during the school day.
The event was designed to encourage positive connections between families, students, and teachers.
Thank you to the Waynesboro Fire Department and Waynesboro Police Department, who spent time with students whose caregivers were unable to attend.
Events like this help strengthen the partnerships that support student success.

Acts of care like this help students feel confident and supported, and we are grateful for community members who take the time to invest in our schools.
We’re also excited to welcome Who’s Next Barber Shop to the Waynesboro neighborhood when their new shop opens later this spring!
