I hope students and families enjoyed the long weekend. We were happy to see so many of you in our building for conferences yesterday! It’s always a pleasure to share student accomplishments and strengths. If you were not able to attend yesterday, but would like to meet with your child’s teacher, please reach out to schedule a time to chat. October is a busy month! I am sharing a few upcoming events but there will be additional information coming home as well. Friday, October 13th is our make-up picture day. If your child missed fall pictures, they can have their picture taken on Friday. Monday, October 16th is our first Parent Teacher Organization meeting of the year. Join us at 5:15 PM in the Wenonah Library. We are looking forward to partnering with parents, teachers and community members to make plans for Wenonah. Our first PTO-sponsored event of the year will be a Family Movie Night, Friday, October 20th. This is a free event for families! A popcorn candy combo will be available for $1 each. Bring your blanket, chairs, and sweatshirts as this is an outdoor event. Details will be coming home this week and again on Monday. The Families, Food and Fun workshop series begins on Wednesday, October 18th at 3 PM in the Wenonah cafeteria. This is an amazing partnership with Augusta Health. Families learn about healthy meal options, prepare a meal, eat together and receive a bag of groceries including fresh produce to take home. Consider taking advantage of this awesome event! Wishing everyone a great week!

Good afternoon! We had a successful Walk to School Day today! The weather was perfect- a nice, crisp fall morning. Students really enjoyed this opportunity. October 5th is Dress Like a Farmer Day to promote National Apple Crunch Day. The class with the most participation receives a treat from Mrs. Erin, our cafeteria manager. A reminder that this Friday, October 6th is our Kona Ice Day. We will celebrate our “These Kid Rock Students” from August and September as well as the winner of our Attendance Contest, Mrs. Mickens’ homeroom, with free Kona Ice. All Wenonah students are welcome to participate. Please prepay using the link here to pay for your student’s treat. A portion of the sales will come back to Wenonah to support future fun events and activities for our students. There is no school for students Monday or Tuesday: October 9th is a Teacher Work Day and October 10th is Conference Day. Students will return Wednesday, October 11th. Throughout October, we will acknowledge Bullying Prevention Month. To kick this off, students are invited to wear orange on October 11th. Our make-up Picture Day is October 13th. Again, many field trips are coming up in October. Be looking for information from classroom teachers. Thank you for all you do to support your student and our school! In gratitude, Mrs. Arey
