📅 No school for students February 16–17!
Parent Conferences are underway, and our teachers will be busy connecting with families. Students, enjoy the break and maybe set an alarm anyway so Wednesday February 18 when you return isn’t a shock. 😅
We’ll see you back soon!

🥛 What’s new with school milk? Here’s a quick update for WPS families:
A new federal law — the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act — was signed on January 14 and expands the types of milk that may be offered with school meals through the National School Lunch Program.
Before any changes happen, school divisions must follow guidance from the USDA and the Virginia Department of Education’s School and Community Nutrition office.
Right now, our WPS School Nutrition team is reviewing that guidance and working through the required process. For the time being, milk options in our cafeterias will remain the same.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more. Thank you for your patience and for supporting our school nutrition program! 💙

Thank you to our counselors for supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally every day. Your work makes a difference in ways both seen and unseen, and we are grateful for all you do for our Waynesboro students and families.

🕊️ Martin Luther King Jr. Day 🕊️
A Day “On,” Not a Day “Off”
School is closed on Monday January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but the message of this day calls us into action.
“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

📚✨ Learning Beyond the Classroom at WHS
Before winter break, students in the Mythology class at Waynesboro High School welcomed a special guest from the University of Virginia .
Ivana Petrovici, from UVA’s Department of Classics, visited the class and shared an engaging and enlightening lecture on the Greek hero Hercules.
To top it off, two students were awarded copies of Homer’s Odyssey in recognition of their enthusiasm and interest in mythology.
What an incredible opportunity to connect classroom learning with higher education and spark a deeper love of literature and history!
